The Swine Flu: Where Did We Go Wrong?

And if it hasn’t gotten bad enough, now your average Joe is getting into fist fights because of the Swine Flu. Want to know how that happened? If you would have been on a particular subway in New York City at just the right time, you would have seen it. Or you could read the full account at Business Insider.

One woman was coughing without covering her mouth on a crowded subway when another woman in the line of her coughing asked her to cover her mouth as she didn’t want the Swine Flu.  This started a verbal outburst but eventually led the coughing woman to spit on the woman brave enough to make a comment in the first place. This obviously led to a physical altercation.

While reports continue regarding businesses bracing for the Swine Flu, you can find this one on Click On Detroit other businesses, especially medical facilities find that they may be under prepared for the influx of illness.  With numbers reported in The Local that Germany’s new Swine Flu cases have actually doubled in just two days, it’s easy to see how hospitals may be inadequately prepared because honestly, we haven’t seen anything like this in years.

The Huffington Post cited the Chicago Tribune’s article that stated their children’s hospital which normally would have around 150 intake of sick children patients is up to 400 because of the H1N1 virus.

The same article also stated that staff absences are 16 times what they normally would be as well.

In all of this, there is good news though.  As Americans are intent in fighting the virus with alternative methods and just old fashioned good hygiene, The Wall Street Journal reports that Clorox cleaning products profits have risen 23% thanks to the virus.
